Why make homemade salsa?
There are some things, like bread, chocolate chip cookies and like salsa that are just better homemade! The satisfaction of making something with your own two hands will make even the simplest of recipes so much more enjoyable for you and whoever you share them with. Also you get the added benefit of knowing exactly what you are eating.
When I started my clean eating journey this was one of the biggest realizations I had; I really had no clue what kinds of things I was putting in my body. Preservatives, GMO foods, excess sugar, the list could go on. Even if you can’t go organic because of the price, or you just can’t commit to a restrictive diet, if you start making your own foods from scratch you will at least be able to say “well at least I know what is in it because I make it with my two hands.”
As you will see in the recipe and steps below, this easy homemade restaurant-style salsa is something you can really make your own! By making homemade salsa you can control the consistency and the spice level to just right for you.

This easy homemade restaurant style salsa is best if:
- served chilled
- with fire-roasted tomatoes. If you can’t find fire-roasted tomatoes, regular tomatoes will work as well. But that fire-roasted flavor really adds something special.
- Taste along the way! This salsa is something you can really make your own by adding more cumin, salt or chili pepper if you want a bit more of a kick.
- Make sure you use the pulse function! Using the other functions on the food processor has the risk of making it a watery consistency. The pulse function will allow you to control the consistency and make it how you like it.
